Iceland In Spring

In Spring of 2023, we took a flight from San Francisco to Reykjavik. We rented a car to drive around the entire perimeter of the island. We were prepared for any type of weather. While there, and many times in the course of a few hours, we experienced snow, rain, sunshine, snow, sunshine, sleet, sun again, and sustained 80 mph winds. The winds were our favorite, because we could barely stand!

There is no bad weather in Iceland. Only poor clothing choices!

My mom detailed our entire trip in three separate posts:

If you are planning a trip to Iceland, all of those articles will tell you what we (kids) liked and what we didn’t. It will also tell you how over-hyped the hot dogs there are. Greg finds the hot dogs at Costco to be way better.

5 Things We Liked in Iceland:

Greg’s favorite memory is of the Danish Kit Kat. I think it was a normal Kit Kat like you would find in Safeway, but because two Danish girls gave it to him, it was Danish.

We both loved the wind storm in the parking lot of the Fosshotel Myvatn. It took us ten minutes to walk the 100 yards to our hotel from the car because the winds were blowing that strong. No one inside the hotel seemed to be bothered though, clearly super strong winds are normal there!
