This airplane flies like something from DCS. Its high rate of turn, massive deflection of control surfaces, and raw, 110+mph speed make the Freewing 70mm F-22 feel on rails when you want to fly like Maverick. It will also fly kinda slow, but let’s be honest; you won’t get this plane in order to fly slow. Furthermore, the F-22 allows you to fly like that for a 5 minute timer on a high-voltage SMC 4000mAh battery. There is no competition whatsoever on the F-22’s battery life. I have a friend who runs a 3:30 flight timer on their 70mm E-Flite F-16, using the exact same battery that I have, which correlates to about five or six laps around the flying field. The F-22 can also fit up to a 6S 5000mAh pack, so I believe that you could run a 5:30 or 6:00 minute timer on it (Remember, this is while doing a flight with fast passes and tail slides into loops). This equates to nearly twice the amount of laps around the field, so at $345 PNP (as of the time of this post), this airplane is worth every penny. The crash two years ago was not at all a representation of what the airplane is like, as that was before the trim and AS3X were calibrated properly. Overall, if you are in the market for a 70mm EDF, I cannot recommend the Freewing 70mm F-22 enough. Between its high performance, absolutely amazing silhouette, and ultra-long battery life, the F-22 checks all the boxes required for a good EDF and more for the price of $345, which therefore makes it among the greatest EDF jets on the market today.
If you can see it, you’re not the target.
